What is a render farm manager, and do I need one?

A render farm manager coordinates rendering across a network of computers. Artists submit their scenes to a shared queue, and the manager distributes the work to available machines, tracks progress and reports any failure as it happens. Once your team renders on more than one machine, it replaces the manual work of starting, checking and collecting every render yourself.
